God's Economy Changed the Goal of My Life
I was baptized in Catholicism right after I was born. I went to mass with my mother, but I was not clear at all concerning the Christian faith. In my senior year in college, I came to a gospel meeting of the local church. It was at that time that I received the Lord Jesus to be my Savior, and was baptized into His name.
Due to my family background, I set my mind to study hard and get outstanding grades. I worked toward this goal and spent my high school and college years in fear that I would not make it. It was at the end of my first year in graduate school that God changed my view of life. In a Christian conference, the speaker repeatedly said that our God is a God of purpose, plan, and economy. This shook me greatly. I had never thought that God had His will, plan, and economy. All I thought of was my goal; and I wanted to utilize God's help to reach my goal. How foolish I was. Small as I am, how can my goal have any great, eternal value? It is the goal of the God who created the universe that is great, glorious, and everlasting.
In that conference, the speaker encouraged the young people to join a training in the Christian life and Bible truths. The Holy Spirit operated in me strongly. I decided to join this training. This training opened my eyes, showing me how a Christian should follow the Lord. I was greatly helped by Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's writings during this time. I can say that I received all my spiritual knowledge and experience from these two brothers.
My classmates are bosses, professors, or managers now, and I am only an ordinary housewife. Besides caring for my family, I work with other believers to preach the gospel and care for young believers, while meeting in the wonderful local church. I thank the Lord from my heart. He led me to salvation in the local church, and to have a part in His great eternal economy.
